Edge Effects
Conference Center-brushed on effect f/5.6, 1/125, SLC conference center and reflection pool, 10/23/10, 12:30pm, canon rebel
Church- f/7.1, 1/1000, SLC church on Temple square, 10/23/10, 12:10pm, Canon rebel, burned border
Spray effect- Temple Square- f/7.1, 1/250, 10/23.10, 11:55 pm,SLC Temple Square, Canon Rebel
Can you guess where I went this weekend? Temple square! I used this trip to get some new pictures, which I did successfully. My favorite here is the conference center pic, where you can see the reflection in the reflection pool. I upped the sats and vibrance on that pic which gave it a really painted, artsy, color.
Scanography

Collage Pics:

This is Halloween
Both of these scans were done at 300 ppi with the scanner I have at home. The first scan, I used my daughter Katie and put her on top of the scanner. She is with me all the time , even when I am doing homework, so many of my ideas include her. It was hard trying to hold her still, and you can see she moved her hand during the scan.
The second scan I did because I am so excited for Halloween, I decided to make a Halloween collage with stuff I had around the house. I have a really cool idea for a scan, but I have to wait till I have the supplies.

Photography Post- portraits
T'Ana-f/3, 1/400, BYUI Gardens, 10/7/10, 6:45pm, canon rebel
A Soldier's Visit- f/1.8, 1/125, BYUI Gardens, 10/11/10, 5:55pm, canon rebel
Environment Pic: This picture was taken while they were on the couch watching a movie- Cuddle Time- f/1.8, 1/8, 10/15/10, 1:32pm, canon rebel
Dune Love- f/2.0, 1/60, sand dunes, 09/30/10, 6:55pm, canon rebel
These pictures I have taken over the past 2-3 weeks. I really love portrait photography and trying to capture personalities. Dune Love was taken as an engagement picture, the others were just taken for fun.
Edits
Blemish edits:
Kaiti and Clayton: f/3.5, 1/400, Rexburg Nature park, 6:36pm, 9/30/10
In this picture I went through and corrected blemishes and uneven color in their skin.
Replace Color:
Cutie Baby: f/1.8, 1/125, my living room in Rexburg, 10/10/10, 3:17pm
I used the replace color edit to change the color of Katie's shirt.
Match Color:
Before:
Katie's Family- f/2.8, 1/500, Rexburg Nature Park, 5:30pm, 10/15/10
Match to:
Aiden- f/2.8, 1/500, Rexburg Nature Park, 5:30pm, 10/15/10
Result:
I used the picture of the baby boy to match color to the one of the family. I did this because I need to use the baby's head from his picture and put it into the family picture. Matching the color helped to make sure the final edit looks more realistic.

Camera Raw
Before:
After:
Apples: f/7.1, 1/25, BYUI Gardens, 5:02pm, 10/08/10, Canon Rebel
In camera raw I adjusted the vibrance, saturation, clarity, blacks, noise reduction and I also added a black lens vignette. I took this picture in the gardens after it rained, I really like how it came out.

Panoramic
I really had a hard time with the Pano pic. So I am trying again to make sure I have a decent one for my photo book! Here it is:
Temple: f/22, 1/60, 6:30pm, 10/14/10, Rexburg, Canon Rebel
This pano is 4 pictures merged together, but since I have already graded for my other one, I am not going to load the other 4 pics for time's sake.

Temple: f/7.1, 1/125, Rexburg, 6:34pm, 10/10/10, Canon Rebel
I took three images standing by the ricks. I merged them in photoshop and then used an adjustment layer to bring some light back to the grass. I did not brighten the Temple up because I liked how there was some natural light highlighting pieces of it.

Bannack Macro
Bannack Reverse Shallow Depth
Handle- f/4, 1/25, 3:12, 9/27/10, Bannack Hotel, Canon Rebel, increased sats and vibrance
Railing- f/4, 1/40, 9/27/10, Bannack Hotel, 3:12pm, Canon Rebel, increased sats and vibrance
I like how my reverse shallow depth pictures turned out. I was able to get the yellow coloring on the wall and a good brown color from the railing. I also like how the light from the window highlights some of the stairs.
Bannack Action Blur and Freeze
Ghost- f/18, 6.0 shutter, 9/27/10, Bannack, 1:32pm, Canon Rebel
Action Freeze- f/16, 1/60, 9/27/10. Bannack, 1:09pm, Canon Rebel
Ghost Door- f/11, 1/4, Bannack Church, 1:58pm, 9/27/10, Canon Rebel
I had a difficult time with these pictures. I think I was in bad lighting when I tried to do the ghost because you cannot really see her face. I also tried blurring the door as it was shutting, and I kind of got the effect I was going for.
HDR
Pre-HDR windows-f/1.8, 1/800, 9/27/10, Bannack, 4:30, Canon Rebel
HDR Window:
HDR window- -f/1.8, 1/800, 9/27/10, Bannack, 4:30, Canon Rebel.
For the window, I used a tripod to get 3 images in 3 different exposures. Then I processed them through dynamic photo to get the HDR image.
Pre-HDR Single Image
Single Image-f/1.8, 1/1250, Bannack Mine Building, 5:17, 9/27/10, Canon Rebel
HDR Image
This is a single image I put through Dynamic Photo. It was taken when we went up to the mining buliding in Bannack. I liked the look of the broken glass.
Bannack Portraits
Dubois- f/16, 1/160, Dubois, 9/27/10, 11:30, Canon Rebel
Sister Esplin-Bannack Ghost Town saloon, 9/27/10, 2:10 f/2.8, 1/160, Canon Rebel
The first portrait was taken during our stop in Dubois. We were all heading back to the vans and I noticed the way she was standing on the hill was a cool angle with the hill. So a bunch of us started snapping away like paparazzi. The second portrait was done in the saloon at Bannack during a mini lesson on soft light coming from windows. It was neat to learn.
